Dr. Anne Stewart, M.D.
Dr. Anne has a passion for the prevention of disease through the artful practice of medicine. She believes fully in the restorative, healing capacity of the body. She offers personalized nutrition and wellness plans, drawing on the benefits of food, vitamins, supplements, herbal therapies, homeopathy, mind/body techniques, and bio-identical hormones. As a dedicated family physician, Dr. Stewart ascribes to the health and healing of the whole person within the integrated context of his or her life. This encompasses medical issues as well as the psycho-social aspects of living, nutritional well-being, and spiritual beliefs.
At Loudoun Holistic Health Partners, Dr. Stewart uses both traditional and complementary medical techniques, utilizing in-depth history and physical exam combined with up-to-date laboratory and imaging modalities for use as diagnostic tools.
As a Magna Cum Laude graduate of James Madison University, she attained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She earned her medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. While there, she was president of her class for four years, in addition to receiving the Norfolk Foundation Merit Scholarship. She was the proud recipient of two prestigious awards in medical school, the Lloyd C. Damsey, MD Memorial Award and the M. Oliver Kepler, MD Award. She was also granted membership into Alpha Omega Alpha, an honor society for students in the top 10% of their class.
After a well-rounded journey exploring the specialties and pursuing additional education in complementary therapies, Dr. Stewart found great reward in Family Medicine, leading her to residency training at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. While there, she trained under an integrative cardiologist, a pharmacist specializing in bio-identical hormones, an integrative family practitioner, a naturopath, and many others. She was also fortunate enough to spend time studying under Dr. Andrew Weil in Arizona. Her commitment to the practice of integrative medicine is one with roots which far pre-date her formal medical education. She has been practicing holistic medicine since 1999, in addition to writing newspaper articles for local organizations and lecturing to medical professionals and communities. She finds integrating is the most effective way to meet the complex needs of her individual patients.
Dr. Anne also loves to find new ways to leave a lighter footprint through recycling, reusing resources, and conserving energy. She has always strived to make LHHP’s office a “green” business.
When she is not taking care of patients, she is enjoying time with her husband, Dr. Dave Stewart, and playing with their three children, their cat and their dog. Faith in God is a central part of their life and is where she gains her strength. Dr. Anne is especially passionate about His amazing love and the healing power that has in her life, her family’s life, and the lives of her patients.
